The end of 2023 is finally here. Our robot, Take 2, gets to officially head south for winter migration. After competing at off-season competitions Chezy Champs, Capital City Classic, and Madtown Throwdown, our bot is back off to its nest.

Madtown Throwdown occurred at Matilda Torres High School from November 11-12. We helped host alongside Team 1323, Madtown Robotics. Overall, we ranked 7th and were the 5th alliance captain. Alongside competing, we had many members volunteering at the event, from doing field reset to queuing.

At the Capital City Classic, we ranked 3rd and were the 2nd alliance captain, making it to the semifinals! We soared quite high this off-season.

We hosted some other pretty egg-citing events throughout the offseason as well.

We hosted our annual Free Flight FLLC Scrimmage to kick off our events. In total, 22 teams attended and had a blast as they practiced flapping their wings before official competitions. We then hosted the Battle at the Nest FLLC Qualifier, which had a turnout of 36 teams (20 of them being rookies), making a total of 218 students. We had 15 teams advance to the championships, but all the teams flew high at this event!

Speaking of FLLC teams, we currently have 10 Bird Brains mentoring 8 FLLC teams around the area. Our members are helping these young minds reach new heights!

In addition, on December 16th, we are hosting the CenCal Tech Challenge, a new FTC (FIRST Tech Challenge) Qualifier hosted by our team alongside Team 5817, Uni-Rex.

Outside of hosting and mentoring, we also flocked to various outreach events. Our team was at the STEM For Girls Conference hosted at Fresno State, where we presented robotics and other forms of STEM to girls from different schools.

We also flew to the San Joaquin Valley Manufacturing Summit, an annual manufacturing conference where representatives of our team got to network with other attendees. We learned a lot about the current state and the future of manufacturing.

As we land from the 2023 off-season we will begin to flap our wings into the 2024 on-season. On January 6th, we will learn what the new game is during kick-off!

The Bird Brains would like to thank you profusely for your continual love and support. This off-season would not have been possible without you.
