AND WE’RE BACK! 

Did you know that cardinals like to cover themselves in ants to help get bad insects off of them? Well, our birds don’t do that, but our shop sure does! All jokes aside, this week was a strong one for the Bird Brains as our team finalized the robot design for this season’s game. Additionally, the team made an appearance at Buchanan’s winter rally and a local farmer’s market!

Update on ST

This week, ST continued prototyping subsystems for our robot. CAD finished the intake and gripper design while electronics and fabrication worked together to prototype the elevator and started the tedious task of building the swerve modules. Programming rewrote the limelight code, refining the autonomous sequence on the swerve bot, and got our robot ready for our outreach events this week. Overall, it has been a productive week!

Winter Rally

On Friday the 20th, our very own Bird Brains, participated in a game at the school’s winter rally. Our team’s CEO, Erica Kokor, CAO, Sanmeet Deol, CDO, Juddiah Urbano, Director of CAD, Jack Blase along with general members: Mazin Abi-Rached, Sasha Murchison, and Logan Wulf got to showcase our bot from last season in front of the entire school! The game was called three flags up, where our robot shot balls up in the air for students to catch. We had a blast participating!

Update on F-IR

Our Director of Finance, Katelyn Weibert, has been busy coming up with silent auction basket ideas and sending out sponsor emails for our team’s Workshop in a Box initiative. Meanwhile, Outreach has been compiling a materials list and getting ready to assemble the boxes. Our plan is to finish putting together 5 boxes by the end of next week! Finally, our impact presenters Erica Kokor, Caroline Keppler, and Jazelle Jimenez have been working together to write our impact award script. 

We also made an appearance at the River Park Farmer’s Market on Saturday, January 21st. We used this as a fundraising training opportunity for our electronics members. Our members Jeet, Nico and Corey were able to contact many businesses and gather a lot of items for our silent auction.
